Mannington Adura Max Flooring Complaints Explained

Mannington Adura Max luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring has become a popular choice for homeowners looking to install durable and attractive floors. With realistic wood and stone looks at affordable prices, it’s easy to see the appeal.

However, some homeowners have lodged complaints about performance issues with Adura Max planks. Below, we dive into the most common Adura Max problems reported and what users need to know.

Adura Max Complaints and Problems

While many Adura Max customers are satisfied, some express issues with performance and durability. Here are the most prevalent grievances owners report:

  • Fading, Discoloration, and Color Matching

One of the top complaints about Adura Max is fading, color loss, and discoloration, especially with the lighter floor colors.

Some users state their floors started fading within the first year of installation and became blotchy.

Others had challenges matching new planks for repairs to the existing floor’s color.

There are a few factors that can contribute to fading issues with Adura Max. Exposure to direct sunlight seems to be a main culprit for discoloration problems in rooms with large windows or doors.

Mannington does state that extended exposure to sunlight can damage vinyl floors. Using protective window treatments can help minimize fading.

Some homeowners experienced discoloration after using cleaners containing bleach or vinegar. The company advises only using their recommended pH-neutral cleaners. Not following those guidelines can result in early color loss.

Color batch issues may also be to blame, where some planks came from different dye lots that don’t match perfectly. Carefully inspect boards before installation and intermix different batches to minimize variance.

  • Scratches and Dents

Another common gripe from Adura Max customers relates to scratches and dents. Some users state even with light furniture movement, their floors scratched easily. Others report issues with pet nails scratching floors, despite the durable wear layer.

There could be a few reasons for scratching. Not thoroughly cleaning the subfloor before installation can allow debris to get trapped under planks, leading to scratches when furniture moves. Use of rolling furniture without protectors can also damage floors over time.

Low spots or uneven subfloors that flex under pressure may contribute to scratching and denting in heavy traffic areas. Ensuring the subfloor meets specifications can help prevent these problems.

  • Hollow or Loose Sounding Planks

Some homeowners don’t like the hollow, loose sound that Adura Max floors make when walking across them.

They expected a more solid, quiet flooring.

The rigid composite core gives Adura Max enhanced dent resistance compared to WPC vinyl plank cores.

However, it can still produce a slight hollow sound, especially on upper levels.

Using a quality underlayment designed for rigid core LVP can help minimize this hollow, tapping noise. But some sound is inevitable with vinyl flooring versus surfaces like hardwood or tile.

  • Planks Separating or Coming Apart

In some cases, Adura Max planks separated at the seams or came apart completely after installation. This leaving unsightly gaps or bulges in the floor.

If planks weren’t properly locked together during the initial install, it can lead to future gapping. Not properly prepping the subfloor or inadequate expansion space around the perimeter also contributed to reports of plank separation.

Using extreme force like dropping heavy objects may also cause Adura Max planks to come apart at weak seams. Excess moisture reaching the flooring can make the problems worse. Careful installation and moisture testing is key to preventing these issues.

  • Discoloration from Rubber-Backed Rugs

Some homeowners experienced beige or yellowish discoloration underneath area rugs backed with latex or rubber. Chemicals in the rug backing can react with the vinyl surface, altering its color.

The best way to avoid this issue is using rugs with natural fiber backings instead of rubber or latex. If you do use rubber-backed mats or runners, move them frequently to prevent prolonged contact in one spot.

  • Poor Customer Service

A portion of complaints relate to customer service issues versus problems with the floors themselves. Some users felt Mannington didn’t sufficiently address damage concerns, improperly denied warranty claims, or provided poor communication.

However, experiences can vary greatly between customers. Check reviews to see if any prevalent service problems exist. Contacting Mannington directly with concerns is also recommended. They may be able to provide solutions even if damage falls outside the warranty.

Are The Complaints Reason For Concern?

With any widely sold flooring product, there will inevitably be some negative reviews and user problems reported. However, the issues appear relatively limited given Adura Max’s popularity.

Many homeowners are extremely satisfied with the look, durability, and performance of their floors.

To help minimize problems, consider the following tips:

Is Mannington Adura Max Worth It With Reported Issues?

Even with some negatives reviews and complaints, Mannington Adura Max luxury vinyl plank remains one of the top options on the market for multiple reasons.

  • Attractive and Realistic Looks

One of the biggest advantages of Adura Max is the appearance. The floors replicate wood and stone with remarkable realism in texture, color, and graining.

Plank sizes like 6 x 36 inches and mixed lengths add to the authentic visual. The Max flooring looks far more natural than basic vinyl plank floors.

  • Durability and Scratch Resistance

The rigid composite core and 20 mil wear layer make Adura Max very durable and scratch resistant for vinyl plank flooring. It holds up better to indentations than products with WPC cores.

The commercial grade finish resists scratches from pet nails, furniture movement, and high traffic areas. Proper care and maintenance extends durability even further.

  • Waterproof Performance

Adura Max has 100% waterproof construction that prevents moisture damage. Spills and accidents can be easily wiped up without seeping into the floor’s core or subfloor.

This is a big advantage over hardwood and laminate flooring. The waterproof design provides peace of mind for homeowners.

  • Affordable Cost

Unlike many laminates and hardwood floors, Adura Max offers luxury looks at budget-friendly prices. The Max collection starts around $3-5 per square foot installed.

That’s very affordable versus higher-end vinyl plank, engineered wood, or natural hardwood flooring costing $6 per square foot or more.

  • Easy Maintenance

Keeping Adura Max floors looking great is simple with minimal maintenance needed. Just occasional sweeping, dust mopping, and damp mopping maintains the floors.

No waxing or refinishing required. The low maintenance needs make Adura Max floors ideal for busy families and homeowners wanting convenience.

When weighing the pros and cons, Mannington Adura Max remains an excellent option. Issues seem isolated rather than across the board.

With proper installation, care, and maintenance, most homeowners enjoy beautiful, durable Adura Max floors for years. The premium vinyl plank flooring provides a lot of value for the reasonable prices.

  1. Firstly, I have no more information to give you other than Manning Adura is on my Home Services Proposal. The flooring was installed in my bathroom 03-01-2022. Second, It is a Marbleized pattern., gray and taupe. Third, there is no direct sunlight. Fourth, I do not have any instructions as to what cleaner to use on my floor. The problem is when I wash the floor I cannot get all the plank clean. The harder I wipe, by hand , I notice what I think is color coming from the plank on my cloth. I use Murphy’s Oil soap. Suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

  2. I am wondering what Mannington’s Customer service record is. If they don’t stand by their product after their customers put so much faith in them and what they sell I would shy away. I have been looking at the Mannington Adura Max Aspen Lodge Luxury. This post actually has me second thinking if it would live up their ads now. I would be very angry after spending thousands of dollars to do my whole house and Mannington not back their product or make serious efforts to regain my trust. I would like to hear from other folks who have actually eperienced the durability of the Aspen Lodge product. Kind Regards… Constance
